IF YOU IDENTIFY AS A MAN

Specialist support for Cumbria's men aged 18+

WHAT TO EXPECT

Support for men aged 18+

Safety Net offers a confidential service for males who have experienced sexual abuse in childhood, rape, exploitation, domestic or sexual abuse. We can work with you if your experiences have been recent or in your past - including childhood.

We will take time to understand how your experiences have impacted your life so that we can look at the issues that are important to you, to enable you to live a full life.

A SAFE ENVIRONMENT

Get the support you need

We understand that it is difficult to ask for help, but we're here for you. We have female and male therapists who are specially trained to help you.

PEER SUPPORT GROUP

You may feel isolated or as though you are going through this alone, for this reason, we hold a monthly male-only support group for men. Our Peer Support Men’s Group is a monthly meeting which lasts around 3 hours, it takes place in Carlisle city centre, it is facilitated by one of our therapists and our volunteer peer mentors.

We have a range of activities which increases men’s health and wellbeing, discussing issues such as forgiveness, psychosexual difficulties, anger, shame, coping strategies for mental health difficulties, mindfulness, and meditation.

If you are interested in joining the group please contact us.

HOW IT WORKS

A safe space

We always work in the way that best suits you. In the beginning, the work is focused on ensuring a relationship is built to helping you to feel comfortable, safe and supported.

We can offer you one-on-one therapy or practical and emotional support.
